About Heating Systems
A combi boiler is a boiler that heats cold water for your taps and heats your central heating radiators. A combi boiler heats cold water instantly through a heat exchanger so hot water is available on demand.
There is no need for a expansion tank in the loft or a hot water cylinder in a cylinder cupboard. Combi boilers are more compact fitting into many different locations within the home.
Combi boilers are best suited to a property with fewer people living there. When using a combi boiler to heat hot water e.g., with one person in the house running a bath and another trying to have a shower there could be a depletion in hot water temperatures the boiler can only heat so much hot water at one time.
There are many different models of combi boiler we can advise on the correct boiler or system for you.

About Sealed heating systems – with heat only boiler and unvented hot water cylinder
A sealed heating system is a system using a heat only boiler and a unvented cylinder, the boiler is used to heat the radiators around the home and to heat a unvented hot water cylinder through a coil in the cylinder this method uses zone valves to direct hot water from the boiler to either the central heating or to the hot water cylinder or both controlled buy a time clock.
There is extra space required compared to a combi boiler as you would need room for the cylinder. But there is no need for a expansion tank in the loft as the traditional open vent system and the poor water pressure that is associated with the old gravity fed systems. This type of system also benefits from a abundance of hot water at mains pressure, great for the larger house hold requiring more hot water.
Once again at Think Plumbing and Heating we only use the leading manufactures boilers and cylinders.
